Clara’s Deli and Wine Bar

Set right in the heart of Shoreditch, the space that was decided on for Clara’s had been derelict for almost 12 years.

A gentle yellow colour palette allows the sunlight to ebb and flow from morning to evening, creating the right tone throughout Clara’s ever-changing daily requirements. We added warm wooden panelling and a bespoke tiled deli counter. The dim lighting scheme and a carefully considered layout culminated in an inviting European atmosphere—reflecting the character of the food and wine being served.

Testimony

One of the first things people say when they walk into Clara’s is how beautiful the space is — and honestly, I have to agree.

The iconic yellow frontage, the wall panelling, the Parisian-style sconces… it all creates this feeling of timelessness. Somehow, even though we’ve been open less than four weeks, the space already feels full of warmth and character.

That is entirely down to the incredible work of Anna, whose creative vision has brought this building to life.

I first approached Anna back in August, with what can only be described as an impossible deadline: open in October. And just to make things interesting, our launch date happened to coincide with her wedding.

Working with her has been a complete joy. She is our real-life Edna Mode — full of talent, vision and a healthy dose of sass — which is exactly what we needed when we hit decision paralysis on the smallest details.
